Meet the Speech Language Pathologist

Maria Romero M.S. CCC-SLP

Hello! ¡Hola! My name is Maria, your local NWA bilingual pediatric speech language pathologist! As a health related professional, one of my passions is empowering children to find their voices by overcoming their communication barriers. I do this by collaborating with parents to provide speech-language therapy that is individualized to your child’s needs. You could say that I enjoy working with families to provide language-rich environments and supporting the use of every language to communicate. Ultimately, the goals are to help the child discover the power of their voice as well as helping families feel empowered and supported through their communication journey!

I am an ASHA-certified bilingual speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP) and licensed by ABESPA in the state of Arkansas to practice Speech language Pathology. I received my bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Go hogs! Soon after graduating from the U of A, I moved to Little Rock to continue with my education and received a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Having a passion for education, I continued to study and obtained a master’s in education, ESL endorsement, an Arkansas Bilingual Interpreter Credential in Education certification, and a certification in Autism Spectrum Disorders.

I have 17 years of clinical experience working with the pediatric population through a variety of settings to include: public schools, homes, hospitals, and private clinics.

Along with being a speech language pathologist, I love being a twin mom and an advocate for faith-based education. When I am not wearing my speech hat, you will find me enjoying the outdoors and spending time with my family.
