 Where is therapy provided?

We are licensed in the state of Arkansas. Therapy services will be provided at the Mariposa Therapy Services office. The address is:

125 S. Bloomington St. Ste. C #102, Lowell, AR 72745

Therapy can also be provided at home, daycare, school or community setting within the NWA area. Service area is within 5 miles of our office ( additional travel fee applies and are not covered by insurance). Setting subject to change at any given time by clinician. You will be given a verbal and written notification prior to any change.

Consultations in other states and out of the county can be completed. These consultations are private pay only.

 Preparation/Requirements for In-Home therapy sessions:

-Safe home access must be provided, includes parking.

-Pet security required during each visit. Please inform the therapist of any home pets.

-Primary caregiver should be present at all times and available for education purposes.

Preparation/Requirements for daycare or school therapy sessions:

Therapy can ben provided if permitted by the child’s school or daycare. The parent is responsible for contacting the daycare or school in which the child attends to obtain information regarding acceptance of private providers. This can be done by talking to the daycare or school director/administrator. In addition, a contact name, phone, fax and or email from the daycare or school should be provided to Mariposa Therapy Services so that initial contact between provider and site can be made.

Do you offer Teletherapy?

Yes, telehealth therapy is an option. Teletherapy works well for many individuals. During your evaluation appointment, we will discuss the options and determine if this option is suitable for you.

How long is each speech therapy session?

Session times available: 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes. Often, they are scheduled for 45 minutes.

Can I observe my child’s therapy session?

Yes! We encourage parents to be present during your child’s sessions so you can carry over strategies at home. However, some children tend to have better speech therapy results when they work with a speech therapist by themselves. If this is the case, you will have the opportunity to join the therapy session at the beginning and the end so that you can observe and understand the session’s goals and how you can help your child. The parent/guardian is to be present at all times regardless of the therapy setting.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost will be determined based on the length of time of your therapy session.

Session times available: 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

What is the payment policy?

Payment is required in-full at the time of service.

Payment methods: Credit card, HSA/FSA, check, or cash

What insurance is accepted?

Mariposa Therapy Services is an in-network provider with some insurance companies. This does not mean your insurance will cover some or all services. You will need to contact your insurance company prior to your appointment to find out what steps you need to take for reimbursement of services.  The paperwork needed for therapy services provided will be given to you once a month in the form of a Superbill. You may then use the Superbill to request reimbursement from your insurance.

-Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield

-Arkansas Medicaid

-Passes: AR Total Care, Ambetter, and QualChoice

 You will be asked to provide your insurance information prior to your appointment.

Cancelation Policy:

A 24-hour notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.

There will be a late cancellation fee if cancelation is made less than a 24-hour notice.

A full price fee will be charged if there is a No-Show or if the appointment is missed without any notification from the parent or guardian. Please review the cancelation policy.

Weather cancellations: We follow the NWA school districts weather closures. There are no fees for severe weather rescheduling or cancellations.

What do I need to do before my child’s evaluation?

Before your child’s evaluation, you will need to complete the intake forms such as case history, privacy, and consent forms. During your first phone consultation, you will be guided through the steps in preparing for your child’s evaluation.

What happens during the initial speech evaluation and how long does it take?

Once the intake forms are completed, a comprehensive speech-language evaluation will be take place. The evaluation can take between 1-2 hours. It can take up to 3-4 hours.

After the evaluation, you will receive:

  • A written diagnostic report which will include the frequency of ongoing treatment plan
  • A personalized treatment plan
  • Individualized therapy goals
  • A list with strategies and resources

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy ?

As a parent, you may have that feeling that something is not right with your child’s speech and/or language. You may have noticed that they are not saying many words, creating phrases, or producing certain sounds as they should when compared to peers his or her age.

Typically, a child is expected to do the the following by:

  • 12 months – say or imitate 1 to 5 words, identify common objects when labeled, follow simple- one step directions, plays games with you (Ex. Plays peek-a-boo, pat-a-cake), identify 2 body parts on themselves,
  • 15 months – say or imitate 8-10 words spontaneously, point to common action words in pictures, identify 3 body parts on a doll, understand some prepositions (on, in)
  • 18 months – say 10 to words, show emergence of word combinations, complete two requests with the same object, follow two-step related directions
  • 24 months – say 50 words, say two word phrases, say personal pronouns (I, me), say some three-word phrases
  • 30 months – say 50-200 words, use three word phrases, show emergence of combing four word phrases, use pronouns (mine, my, you), understand size concepts, understand ‘one’ (give me one block)
  • 36 months – say 250 words, use four word phrases , talk about their day using at least four sentences, at least 75% of their speech is understood, use most pronouns (she, he, we, your, they, his, etc.), answer simple who, what, and where questions, understands some colors and shapes words

How do I know if my bilingual child needs speech therapy?

A couple of red flags are:

1. Your child has difficulty learning in both languages.

2. There is limited change even after short term intervention has been provided.

 How is communication and documentation provided?

Communication can be made via phone, text, email, written and telehealth portal.

You have the right to receive information in your native language.

You have the right to receive a copy of your child’s screening and evaluation report.

Who can make a referral?

The parent/legal guardian can contact us at any time.

Your family doctor can also make a referral.
